My Wellbeing Story
My personal journey to becoming a NLP Practitioner and Life Coach began following a breakdown. This is where I learned that I never put myself or my needs first.
By giving to everyone and everything else, I lost my own sense of being and didn’t know what really made me happy. Goals were difficult to achieve. Work was rarely fulfilling and I had difficulties in my relationships in addition to struggling with my health. As a result, I didn’t understand how to put myself first without upsetting anyone else or compromising my work.
Why I became a Life Coach
I set up my coaching practice to help people prevent burnout. This isn’t exclusively for those who over-work, it’s also for those who cannot manage their overthinking, their striving for perfection and trying to do so many things all the time – mainly to distract from the things that they are unhappy with in their lives.
So much of what we want our lives to look like are based on unrealistic expectations. We can absolutely have it all, it’s just important for us to understand that it may not look the way we thought it would and that that’s ok. Reframing your thoughts through NLP activities and positive psychology really helps to create the right picture of your life, for you.
Getting certified in Life Coaching and Neuro-Linguistic Programming
My professional background is in Marketing with over 18 years in the Hospitality and Travel industries. I have a BA in Marketing and Business Law. My previous experience in professional industries allows me to fully understand the difficulties that my clients face with work-life balance. My road to coaching began in 2012, and I am certified in the following:
- Counselling skills
- NLP Life Skills
- Wellbeing Coach
- Positive Psychology
I am a Member of the Association of Coaching and an approved member of the Life Coach Directory.
My Personal Experience With Mental Health
How I Healed From Depression
Before I started Life Coaching, I began a journey to heal from depression. I worked with many different therapies to help me get better. These included:
- Travel – This was probably the most helpful. I was able to physically leave the stresses of daily life, and it helped me gain some much needed clarity.
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Counselling helped me work through old wounds, understand my limiting beliefs and templates, and learn how to cope with them.
- Life Coaching and working with a NLP Practitioner – I worked with these for over a year. Seeing both therapists helped me to move forward with my life: I was able to re-frame deep rooted thoughts about myself and my life.
My healing journey instilled a desire to help others the way I was helped. It made complete sense to me to become a Life Coach.
